Stoch: I came to help to defend the title

PRAGUE – Just a few minutes after a victorious game with Jihlava, Slavia introduced their new reinforcement. Slovak midfielder Miroslav Stoch is coming from Fenerbahce signing 2 year deal. “I have been following Czech league carefully. It has always been close to me,” Stoch said during a press conference.
“I hope I will get used to the new club quick enough, I have never had any problem with it and I believe that I can fit into the team. I have been in full training recently and I have played several pre-season friendlies. On Saturday I join the team,” Stoch said on a press conference following the Jihlava game.

Did the Slovak international make any research concerning Czech league? “I haven’t spoken to Dušan Švento yet but I have to ex-Slavia striker Tomáš Necid, we know each other well. I have also had enough information from my manager. Czech league was always close to me and I have been following the games carefully online and on TV,” Stoch added.

And what was the biggest motivation? “We are in Champions League Play-off, it would be pity not to take advantage of it. I have always been eliminated in the Play-off with my previous clubs and I believe that it could work this year. I also wanted to be close to my home, my girlfriend is Czech and we have young son. I hope that I will be satisfied and that the club will be as well,” Stoch concluded.

27-year old Miroslav Stoch started his senior career at the age of 16 in Nitra and joined Chelsea’s youth academy in 2006. London in the age of 18. After several starts for the first team in 2008/09 he joined Twente on loan a year later. In 2010 his transfer to Turkish side Fenerbahce was agreed on. Later he also played on loan for PAOK (GRE), Al Ain (UAE) and Bursaspor (TUR). In 2013 he won the FIFA Puskás Award for the best goal of the year. Stoch is going to wear no 17 in Slavia.
