Josef Hušbauer: The first winter reinforcement

PRAGUE - Slavia introduced their newest team member. Midfielder Josef Hušbauer has signed a contract with Slavia until 30 June 2019.
“I hope that it will be a restart of my carrier. The team wants to reach the European competitions and I will do my best to be a part of it,” says the 25-year-old midfielder.

Josef Hušbauer (16.3.1990) started playing football for Sparta but debuted in the first league for another Prague team – Viktoria Žižkov in summer 2008. He spent the following season on a loan in Příbram where he scored his first goal. His header helped his team to defeat Slovácko. Transferring to Ostrava, Hušbauer played for Baník in the 2010/2011 season.

His return to Sparta was a successful one. Sparta won the Czech league as well as the home cup in 2013/2014 season celebrating “the double”. And Hušbauer became the league top scorer with 18 goals. The creative midfielder spent spring 2015 on a loan in Cagliari Calcio returning to Sparta in summer.

Hušbauer has also been called up to the national team. The twenty-five-year-old started representing the Czech Republic at under-16 level, debuting for the senior side in 2012.

Josef Hušbauer is not the only transfer between both Prague rivals in the last few seasons. Simon Deli, who came in January 2015, has become a key figure of Slavia’s defence.
