Ngadeu in UEL Team of the Week!

PRAGUE/ASTANA - Slavia defensive midfielder Michael Ngadeu-Ngadjui was named into the UEFA Europa League Team of the Week. After defender Eduard Sobol on MD1 Ngadeu is already second Slavia player in the selection after just two European appearances for the red & whites.
Slavia defensive midfielder Michael Ngadeu-Ngadjui scored an opening goal of our Europa League game in Astana (1-1) on Thursday when he latched onto Sýkora cross and headed the ball into the net at minute 18. His goal started a big pressure of the red & whites which unfortunately resulted only in two crossbars hit by Sýkora and Stoch.

The Cameroonian international made an impressive defensive performance in the 1-1 draw. He won seven aerial duels and made five interceptions as he broke the home team´s play up frequently according to uefa.com stats.

“We have started well and had several other chances, but we hit just the crossbar. In the goal situation I was just following our manager’s instructions. I knew, where to run,” Ngadeu explained.

“We know how to deal with the free kicks. We know where to shoot and I am quite strong in headers, so It all went well for me this time,” the Cameroonian midfielder said after the game.

Slavia won 5–3 at Štruncovy Sady in the 15th round of the Chance Liga. Tomáš Chorý scored twice, Youssoupha Sanyang netted his first league goal, and Štěpán Chaloupek and Christos Zafeiris were also on target. The Red-Whites lead the domestic competition by two points heading into the international break.

Slavia fell 0–3 to Arsenal at Eden Arena in the 4th round of the Champions League league phase. The Premier League leaders took the lead through Saka’s converted penalty, Merino doubled the advantage in the first minute of the second half, and the same player later sealed the final score. A penalty initially awarded to Slavia was overturned by the referee after consulting VAR.
