Slavia lifted the Czech FA Cup after a 16-year long pause. The red & whites defeated Jablonec 3-1, Stanislav Tecl scored two, Miroslav Stoch added third a minute before the final whistle.
Manager Trpišovský made the only change in his starting line-up in compare to the game with Plzeň. Midfielder Tomáš Souček returned after a stop caused by four yellow cards and replaced injured Jakub Hromada.

The red & whites got their first chance 11 minutes into the opening half when Stoch sent his cross from the free kick and Souček missed the ball close on the far post. On the other side Jablonec could benefit from Jugas’ poor pass, but Masopust was denied by Kolář standing alone in front of our goalkeeper.

Slavia could celebrate for the first time at minute 14. Frydrych’s long cross returned Zmrhal on the far post, ball got to Stanislav Tecl and the ex-Jablonec striker had planty of time to fire it through goalkeeper Hrubý.

Slavia had other chances but Bořil could not reach the ball in front of an open net and Tecl’s header missed the left post close. But Jablonec put us under pressure around the 30th minute and managed to equalize at minute 32. After Stoch’s foul they were rewarded a free kick, Kolář did not reach the high cross and Luděk Pernica headed the ball in despite Ngadeu trying to block his effort near the right post.

But the red & whites were one goal up nevertheless on the half time. At minute 38 Hrubý punched away Zmrhal’s hard shot to the corner kick, Stoch sent his cross inside the box and Stanislav Tecl added his second in a slide.

Jablonec tried to equalize after the break, but Kolář saved the ball following cross-shot by Holeš after an hour of play. Shortly afterwards Jablonec goalkeeper Hrubý performed a perfect flying save to punch away Souček’s shot from outside of the box.

Slavia had several blocked shots during the second half still defending a narrow lead and the guests had their only two chances shortly before the 80th minute. Pernica’s header was deflected by Ngadeu abve the crossbar and following a corner Zelený headed the ball just a few centimetres above the crossbar again.

The decision came at minute 89. Milan Škoda was attacking Hrubý after a long cross from the half, Jablonec goalkeeper could not hold the ball and Miroslav Stoch sent it into an open net to make it 3-1.

Slavia thus lifted the Czech FA Cup (MOL Cup) for the 4th time in their modern history (1997, 1999, 2002, 2018). The title secured them a direct qualification for the UEFA Europa League Group stage, but in case the red & whites finish second in the league they will take the UEFA Champions league Qualifying Round (2nd or 3rd) spot.
