Slavia defeated Jihlava in their last game before UCL Play-off

PRAGUE/EDEN ARENA – Slavia players succeeded in their last league game before the first leg of Champions League Play-off with APOEL. Thanks to Hušbauer’s penalty kick and Danny’s first goal in red-and-white, the sewn ones defeated Jihlava 2-0.
Manager Jaroslav Šilhavý named his new reinforcement – Ukrainian national Eduard Sobol – in starting line-up as a left defender, Danny and Hušbauer started to play the leading role in midfield.

More than 10 thousand home fans waited no more than 5 minutes for the first goal. Zoubele tackled Škoda after a corner kick and Hušbauer scored from a penalty spot. Although Jihlava goalkeeper Rakovan guessed the right side, he could not reach the low-range shot.

At minute 18 Slavia doubled the lead. Hušbauer found Škoda inside the penalty area with his precise through ball, Rakovan blocked our captain’s shot and Danny had easy job to rebound the ball into an open net. He thus scored his maiden goal in red-white jersey.

Just ten minutes later, van Buren fund himself in a chance on the left side of penalty area after another Hušbauer’s cross, but Rakovan blocked his low-range shot.

Half an hour into the game Slavia scored their third after combination of Ngadeu, Bořil and Hušbauer, but the goal was disallowed due to offside position of our right-back.

Slavia set the pace of the game in the second half as well, but it was Jihlava who had their first chance. At minute 52 Klíma could score after a counter-attack only to be denied by Laštůvka’s perfect safe.

Just a minute later the guests wasted even bigger opportunity. Jugas managed to block the ball on the goal line after a corner kick and Hronek stood in front of an open net just to miss the left post wide.

After an hour Rotaň could score his maiden goal afer Hušbauer’s back heel pass, but his joy was interrupted by linesmen due to offside.

Slavia managed to keep the two-goal lead till the end and remained unbeaten in their 29th consecutive league game. However, the match of an utmost importance is yet to come – the Champions League Play-off first leg, played in Nicosia on Tuesday, 15th August.
