Vladimír Coufal moves to West Ham

After more than two years in Slavia, right-back Vladimír Coufal moves to English Premier League. He will join Tomáš Souček in West Ham.

Vladimír Coufal left for London after the second game of UCL Play-off in Denmark. He will Join Tomáš Souček on the Olympic Stadium as part of a 6 million EUR deal. After Souček and Kateřina Svitková (West Ham Women), Coufal is the third Slavia player moving to West Ham United this year.

“It was a great ride. I was here two years and I won everything I could. I played every competition I have ever dreamt of. If it wasn’t for the last Play-off I would leave with a clear conscience. I am glad Slavia made it possible for me,” Coufal said.

“Slavia impressed itself on my mind. The club is in my blood, in my heart. I will be Slavia fan forever and I hope that one day I will have a chance to return. As a player or in a different role,” the 28-year old right-back added.

Vladimír Coufal joined Slavia in July 2018 from Slovan Liberec and immediately became regular member of starting XI in almost all games. He scored his maiden goal in his first start away against Sigma Olomouc. In his first season in red and white Coufal played 39 matches scoring 4 goals and providing 6 assists. He helped Slavia to win the Czech title, Czech FA Cup and reach the UEFA Europa League quarter-final.

In 2019/20 he won another Czech title and made an impression in UEFA Champiosn League “Group of Death” with Barcelona, Borussia Dortmund and Inter Milan. He did not miss a single minute in UCL Play-off and the Group Stage. He signed new contract with the club on the beginning of current season. In 7 games of 2020/21 he made 3 assists.

Coufal started to 88 games for Slavia, 21 of them in European competitions, playing 88 minutes on average. He scored 7 goals and provided 9 assists.
