Danny: I came to help the team

PÖLLAUBERG/PRAGUE - Our summer reinforcement from Zenit St. Petersburg Danny has joined the team for Austrian training camp and started in the pre-season friendly against FC Krasnodar. Before leaving for Austria, Danny gave the first interview for Slavia TV. “I came to help. To do as I did in the other teams," former Zenit captain says.
Why did you opt for Slavia?

“I chose Slavia because it is very good team. They have won the Championship and they are in Champions League qualifiers. I wanted to continue playing in the big club and Slavia gave me this possibility. I am very glad to sign and to play in the team. The president and the coach made all for me to come and I appreciate it. This is a good country, good team and I hope that we’ll win a lot of trophies and the Championship.”

What about your personal goals?

“I came to help. To do as I did in the other teams. I promise to work a lot and to help the team to make good results.”

How would you introduce your position to the fans? Centre-midfield? Winger?

“I’ve already played on both positions and I feel good on both of them. But the coach will decide what is better for him and for the team. I came here to do my job and I am ready to help. Any position is ok for me.”

You have already seen the stadium and the facilities, how did you like it?

“It is amazing. People were already talking about fans as well, that they always come to the stadium. Not only home, but also away. The president and the coach were talking about a lot of things, good things to me, what has happened in the club and I hope I can be happy here as I was in other teams.”

How are you looking forward to the Austrian training camp?

“It’s good. I used to go there with other teams. I must train hard because I stopped already one month ago. I need to train and I will also join the team and get to know all players.”

Do you know any player from the squad personally?

“Not personally. I know that they have bought two, three more players. I hope the team is strong and that we can make good result and the Champions League, because it is important for all players. It is good to play in the Champions League atmosphere.”
