Important performance, says boss after Derby

“Despite the difficulty of the game we played the best match after the winter break,” says manager Jindřich Trpišovský.

“For the very first time we had available all players who should be part of starting eleven. It’s unbelievable what Jan Bořil and Petr Ševčík played considering they had only one training with the team after their recovery. And Bořil won a set piece in the added time and assisted to our goal. I think we played well in the game, there were good individual performances, and I think we would be unlucky losing such game,” Slavia manager Jindřich Trpišovský said.

“It was an important performance, the best game in spring season so far. It was Derby, difficult game, but I am glad that our performance did not lack quality, except of finishing of course. I am glad that we scored, we deserved a goal. Even though we were one goal down, with new players on the pitch we could see the determination to do something, in compare to the last ten minutes at Slovácko when we resigned. We can build on our performance in Derby, but we must confirm it in the upcoming games,” Trpišovský added.

Slavia have now 8-point lead on top of the league in compare to 16 points before winter break. “We must take this into account, after just four games it’s only half. For us is extremely important to work with the team which changed a lot. It’s about everyday work, we played two away games, now Derby, and it’s very important not to lose players due to injuries and yellow cards. We had to make many changes due to illness and it had negative impact too. We must play in the same style as against Sparta in all games. Despite playing away, despite not having sold-out stadium, despite it won’t be the Derby. That’s something we must remember,” concluded Slavia manager.
