More difficult title than the last one

"I am glad that we finished the season, our entire work would be wasted otherwise," Slavia manager says after his second title.

Jindřich Trpišovský won second Czech title in his second complete season as Slavia manager. His team haven´t lost a single game home and conceded only 12 goals in 35 games. Slavia finished the season 9 points ahead of Viktoria Plzeň and 25 points ahead of Sparta.

“We managed to win the back-to-back title. This one was even more difficult than the previous one because of the departures of several key players and the coronavirus break. Plzeň played excellently in the second part of the season and we had to adapt new players, reshape the team. I am glad we made it and we got close to the numbers from last season. It’s crowning of the effort we make every day. It’s only shame that more people could not attend the final game itself,” manager says.

The 2019/20 season was special because of coronavirus break lasting from March to May. “It was a reveal that the league did finish. I was worried that the rest of the season would be cancelled. Regardless of the final table it is great that we could finish all the games and that there will be no more speculation. First three weeks after the restart were the worst, we were constantly afraid that our entire work will be wasted. That’s why I am glad that we finished the season in the first place,” Trpišovský continued.

Manager and his staff already think about the squad for the next season. “We hope we will see some new faces in the dressing room for the training. We built this team for fifteen spring games, now we need to build a different one, we need to bring new players. We still wait for the players who return from loans and those who are recovering from injuries, then we will see who will join us.”

“I wish that no one leaves the club, especially in the case of Ondřej Kolář. We do not play any departures, but you can never know what offers the other clubs will make. We would like to bring new players on certain positions, but as I said, especially Kolář is extremely important for us and we hope he will stay one more season,” Jindřich Trpišovský concluded.
