Quotes from the press conference before LASK

LASK were dangerous opponent in the first game, I expect similarly difficult match on Thursday, says manager Jindřich Trpišovský.

Slavia have arrived in St. Pölten for the UECL Round of 16 second leg against LASK scheduled for Thursday night. The Red-Whites have won the first game 4-1 at home, Yira Sor was the man of the match with two goals early in the opening half. Manager Jindřich Trpišovský spoke along Ondřej Lingr on the official press conference on Wednesday.

On the second leg against LASK

We approach the game as if it was the first one. We do not look behind on the previous game. We want to win, we have the national coefficient in mind as well. We focus on Thursday, then there is an international break and then we will see what happens.

On the injury list

It would be easier to name those who can start on Thursday. The situation is changing every hour and we are also limited by the player’s list for the European competitions. The health situation will not allow some players to start, on the other hand, some others are about to return soon. Taras Kacharaba travelled with us and seems to be ready for the game, Ondřej Lingr and Ivan Schranz are also here. But we will be glad if we will have 11 players for the starting line-up ready together with some 5 others to substitute them. We will decide on matchday morning.

On the chance of playing a quarter-final again

It would be a phenomenal achievement for us to be in the quarter-finals of a European competition for the third time in the last four years. We know we have good position, and we want to finish what we started at all costs. The opponent was tough in the opening game, and we succeeded thanks to the quick two-goal lead. But LASK were very dangerous opponent which they also proved in the last league game. I expect similarly difficult game on Thursday.

On the potentially missing players after yellow cards

We have the booking list in our heads, and we will gladly avoid some players missing for the next stage if we proceed. But we must bear in mind how tough opponent stands against us, they will surely learn from the opening game. We focus on the game tomorrow.

On travelling by train

We chose the same travel as before the game against Union Berlin, we have also consulted this with the players, and they’ve agreed. It is comfortable, the train station is right behind our stadium, we can skip several transfers. There was a TV and we could watch the last game of LASK with the entire coaching team.

On the message of chairman Jaroslav Tvrdík’s cancer surgery

Of course, the message affects us. When I got the information, I haven’t slept all night. We have been in daily contact with him, he is the one who brought us all to Slavia. It is an uncomfortable situation and now we can only cheer him up with our football, we know how he cares about Slavia. We want him among us as soon as possible.
