Slavia - Plzeň
PRAGUE/EDEN ARENA - The spring campaign of 2016 is over. In the very last game Slavia beat Plzen - who already secured the title - 5:0 thanks to five different strikers. 52 points and 5th place mean the best result since the last title back in 2009.
Slavia started well with the opener coming less than four minutes into the game. Bořil sent a decent cross from left wing and on the far post Slovak midfielder Jaroslav Mihalík headed the ball into the net.

Kopic was then close to level but directed his strike only to woodwork and Berkovec then punched away Krmenčík’s rebound.

After 20 minutes Slavia doubled the lead by Antonín Barák and his shot from distance. Czech under-21 midfielder scored his fourth goal in the last three games.

Just seven minutes later Bosnian striker Muris Mešanovič set the score on 3-0 after a precise pass from Mihalík. Viktoria was quite unlucky in the first half when Kovařík hit the woodwork again five minutes before the break.

But 3-0 was not enough for Slavia and Plzen – who had been already crowned the 2015/16 champions – witnessed another two in their net.

In 50th minute Mihalík returned Bořil’s long cross in front of the goal and Josef Hušbauer had an easy task to score his second goal in red-and-white jersey. With three minutes remaining Karel Piták sent Miljan Vukadinovič to the counter-attack and Serbian substitute showed a cool-blooded finish. 5-0. Piták thus celebrated his last game in Slavia with an assist to the final goal.

Fifth place in the league table could possibly mean UEFA Europa League spot for 2016/17. The final of FACR Cup on Wednesday will decide whether Slavia will fight in Europe next season.
