Slavia - Plzeň

Slavia secured a 3-0 victory against Viktoria Plzeň in the third round of the playoffs at Eden. The match was decided in the opening ten minutes when Ondřej Zmrzlý found the net for the second time in red and white, followed by a beautiful long-range strike from Oscar. The definitive result was sealed in injury time by Václav Jurečka.
The game was watched by 17,895 fans, leaving a four-point gap at the top of the table with two games remaining in the season. What did it look like at the sold-out Fortuna Arena on Wednesday night?

Compared to the 311th derby, the coaching staff made four changes. Starting were Lukáš Provod, Ondřej Zmrzlý, David Zima, and Lukáš Masopust. Petr Ševčík led the team with the captain's armband, and both clubs continued their previous joint CSR activities, collecting kilometers in support of the Paraple Center. Slavia also presented jerseys inscribed with Braille letters before kickoff, aiming to avenge two losses to the West Bohemian team earlier this season.

They lost 1-2 at Eden and 0-1 at Štruncové sady.

Jindřich Trpišovský's selection started excellently. In the 5th minute, after a combination between Oscar and Provod, Plzeň goalkeeper Jedlička only parried a shot, allowing Ondřej Zmrzlý to easily score the rebound - 1-0. The January signing from Olomouc notched his second league goal in the red and white shirt.

In the 9th minute, Jindřich Staněk's long clearance sent Ivan Schranz through on goal, but the Plzeň defense resisted, conceding a corner. After its execution, the ball fell to Oscar, who beautifully struck it with his left foot from 30 meters, leaving Jedlička stranded - 2-0.

Just before the half-hour mark, Lukáš Masopust intervened at the last moment to block Chorý's shot. In the 22nd minute, Hejda fouled Provod just outside the penalty area, earning Plzeň's captain the first yellow card of the match. Provod's subsequent free-kick hit the wall, and Zmrzlý blasted the rebound high over the bar. Three minutes before halftime, Staněk had an uncomfortable moment as he almost turned a selfless effort from Masopust into his own net. The subsequent corner and two more in added time were easily defended by the hosts, who went into the break leading 2-0.

In the 47th minute, after a collision between Ogbu and Mosquera in the penalty area, referee Rouček initially awarded a penalty to Plzeň, but after a lengthy VAR review, he overturned the decision. Two shots from Provod were blocked by the opposition defenders, and a beautiful left-footed strike from Mojmír Chytil was saved by Jedlička's fingertips. A cross from Provod found Zmrzlý unmarked at the far post, but Hranáč cleared his shot off the line.

In the 65th minute, Slavia thought they had another goal when Provod beat the Plzeň goalkeeper from a tight angle, but it was disallowed for offside. Twelve minutes later, Ševčík unleashed a shot just wide with his right foot. By then, Matěj Jurásek and Václav Jurečka had already entered the field, replacing Schranz and Provod.

In the 80th minute, Chytil had another chance, but his header went over the bar, and Staněk made a fantastic save on the goal line from Kalvach's shot. In the dying minutes, Conrad Wallem and Christos Zafeiris also made appearances on the field. In added time, Václav Jurečka scored from Matěj Jurásek's cross from the left - 3-0!

Nothing else happened in the match, which was watched by 17,895 fans. Slavia won 3-0, reducing the gap to the top to four points. Jindřich Trpišovský's team will play their penultimate game of the season on Saturday at 18:00 in Uherské Hradiště against Slovácko.
