Slavia - Sparta
Goals: - 10. Krejčí ml., 26. Pešek
Slavia lost 0-2 to spart in MOL Cup quarter-final and will not repeat the last year´s triumph.
Manager Jindřich Trpišovský made 2 changes into the starting line-up compared to the last game against Karviná. Peter Olayinka started on the right wing when Ivan Schranz replaced Michael Krmenčík as a lone striker and Jakub Hromada started instead of Mads Madsen in midfield.

Slavia were stronger on ball on the beginning of the game, but it was Sparta who managed to open the score. With 10 minutes on the clock Sáček could fire after a corner kick and Bah blocked his effort, but the ball only rebounded to Ladislav Krejčí jr. who sent it into an open net.

Two minutes later Slavia got into their first bigger chance when Hromada fired from the edge of the box, but his effort missed the left post. The guests then doubled their lead in the 26th minute when Karabec set up Pešek inside of the box after a counter-attack and Sparta winger chipped the ball over Mandous.

In the 39th minute Tomáš Holeš appeared in the biggest Slavia chance of the opening half after Ševčík’s cross but headed wide from inside of the box. A minute before the break Slavia lost the ball on their own half and Minchev could go alone on Mandous, but our goalkeeper made a perfect save to deny Sparta forward.

In the second half first chances came after 60th minute. First Ousou lost the ball after another misplaced pass and Haraslín was alone in front of Mandous but sent the ball several metres over the crossbar. A minute later Schranz set up Holeš after a superb individual action, but our captain fired wide.

In the 83rd minute Mandous had to show his skills again when he managed to save Pešek’s low effort from the edge of the box. On the other side Slavia failed to create more chanced despite several substitutions.

After last year’s trophy Slavia won’t win the back-to-back Czech MOL Cups. The Red-Whites failed to break the spring deadlock and lost 0-2 to Sparta in the quarter-final.
