Good start! Chorý leads victory over Union with two goals
The opponent started more actively, with Eckert making the first threat to Antonín Kinský's goal, his clever deflection narrowly missing the left post.
Slavia did not ideally match the initial tempo, with Union holding the ball and causing problems for the red and white defense with their movement. In the 15th minute, the home team also made their presence felt, with a long throw-in by Tomáš Chorý extended to Lukáš Provod, whose header was saved by Moris.
In the 19th minute, the same players swapped roles, and it worked noticeably better. Lukáš Provod crossed, and Tomáš Chorý headed the ball into the net for his debut goal for Slavia – 1:0!
Moments later, the score could have changed again, but Ivan Schranz volleyed just past the roaring North Tribune from a Christos Zafeiris corner. The following action from the Slovak winger ended similarly, with Oscar Dorley’s shot from outside the box missing the target.
Slavia’s pressure was mounting, and in the 27th minute, Eden was thrilled by Filip Prebsl’s long-range shot, which hit the side netting. Lukáš Provod broke into an interesting counter-attack but failed to deliver to the onrushing Christos Zafeiris at the crucial moment.
In the 41st minute, Christos Zafeiris sent a corner kick, and Tomáš Chorý was unstoppable in the air. This equation resulted in the second goal of the evening and was the last notable moment of the first half – 2:0!
Early in the second half, Malick Diouf almost replicated his projectile from Liberec, but the opponent's defense deflected the ball for a corner.
In the 54th minute, the same situation repeated under heavy rain, but this time Malick’s half-volley from outside the box went just wide. Moments later, the yellow and blue team almost scored an own goal from a free kick, saved at the last moment by their goalkeeper.
Three minutes later, Oscar Dorley intercepted Union's play and scored a decisive shot to the post, increasing the lead to three goals – 3:0!
Eden roared, and Slavia was on fire. Tomáš Chorý was close to a hat-trick, but his left-footed shot after a clever turn missed the goal. The game calmed down after substitutions on both sides, with Antonín Kinský covering the rare chances from the opponent. Alexandr Bužek made his first appearance for Slavia.
The twenty-year-old midfielder unfortunately scored an own goal in the 73rd minute – 3:1. Mojmír Chytil and Lukáš Vorlický supplemented Slavia’s forces.
Five minutes before the end, Fuseini was shown a red card for unsporting behavior, leaving the opponent to finish with ten men.
Nothing else happened in the 3rd qualifying round match, and Slavia took a two-goal lead to Brussels. The return leg is scheduled for Tuesday, August 13th, at RSC Anderlecht’s stadium.
