Slavia - Zlín
Slavia were one goal down just after seven minutes of the game with Fastav Zlín. Škoda equalized shortly after his failed penalty, but Zlín added second in the added time to make it 2-1. Slavia thus lost their second home game of 2017/2018 and did not reduce their loss to Viktoria Plzeň.
Several absence stood in the way of ideal line-up for manager Trpišovský. Deli, van Buren, Zmrhal and Mešanovič could not play because of injury, Hromada due to illness and Danny after he has seen a fourth yellow last game.

Pokorný and Sýkora thus started in defense next to Jugas and Bořil, Kúdela made his appearance as a defensive midfielder and Mingazov returned on the right wing.

But it was Zlín who started better and scored from their first chance. After 7 minutes Gajiš passed the ball to Daniel Holzer inside of our box and the 22-year old who is on loan to Zlín from Sparta fired his shot under the crossbar to open the score.

The red & whites were 1-0 down early in the first half in the third consecutive league game.

Slavia then improved their performance and begin their way to equalizer. Škoda could do so just 10 minutes later but hit the post with his header.

Even bigger chance had the captain on the minute 24 when Gajič stopped Bořil’s cross with his hand inside the box and Škoda took a penalty, but goalkeeper Zlámal chose the right side and punched the ball away. Škoda did not convert his first penalty in last 4 seasons.

Slavia eventually did equalize on 28th minute. Bořil’s long throw-in was prolonged by Skouček inside the box and Škoda headed the ball into the net on a near post.

After 35 minutes Slavia could take lead when Zlín defender Bačo deflected Sýkora’s sharp cross but the ball hit post for the second time in the game.

Second half showed less chances than the first one but Slavia could take lead several times. Bořil scored at minute 56 following pass by Stoch but the goal was disallowed due to an offside.

Ten minutes later Tecl was left alone in front of goalkeeper Zlámal after another precise pass by Miroslav Stoch but sent his shot over the crossbar.

At minute 80 Tecl changed his role and sent a precise cross inside the box but Škoda sent his low shot only to the Zlín goalkeeper.

Pivotal moment of the game thus came in the added time. It started with Slavia free-kick followed by Zlín counter-attack in which Vukadinović returned the ball into the box to Ekpai who sent his attempt precisely close to the left post at minute 90+2.

Slavia thus lost their second home game of 2017/2018 season and did not utilize the loss of leaders Viktoria Plzeň. The red & whites are now just one-point ahead of Liberec on the second place of Czech HET liga.
