Slavia - Plzeň
Goals: 16. Řezník (vlastní), 58. Tecl
Slavia beat table leader Viktoria Plzeň 2-0 home in Eden after own goal by Řezník and Tecl’s quick counter-attack. Viktoria thus lost their chance of securing title, Slavia is now 6 points behind with 3 games to go.
Slavia coaching staff had to solve a situation with Per-Egil Flo who got injured during warm-up and had to be replaced by Jan Bořil. Michal Frydrych thus returned to the position of right back. Tomáš Souček could not start after his 4th yellow card and was replaced by Jakub Hromada. Jan Sýkora returned to the midfield and Stanislav Tecl started as a lone striker.

Just a few seconds after the kick-off Miroslav Stoch finished Slavia attack with a dangerous shot from behind the box but fired the ball over the crossbar. The game started in a decent pace and Ondřej Kolář soon needed to be in action following a free kick by Viktoria.

Slavia put pressure on Plzeň and was rewarded by a series of corner kicks. On 16th minute Stoch sent his cross from one of them, Michael Ngadeu got into a duel with Radim Řezník and Viktoria defender deflected the ball into his own net. Slavia got into a 1-0 lead.

Slavia were clearly better in the opening half and could double their lead several times. Tecl had the biggest chance in the last minutes when he latched onto Hušbauer’s cross inside of the box but missed the target close after he turned over with the ball.

Shortly after the start of the second half Sýkora was tackled inside of the box by Havel and Slavia was awarded a penalty but Kozáčik guessed the side right and denied Stoch with his effort aiming to the left post.

But the red & whites did not stop and added their second on 58th minute. Following Viktoria set piece Slavia launched a counter-attack, Stoch passed the ball to the left side on Jaromír Zmrhal who returned it to the right side to Tecl and our striker jinked past Kozáčik sending the ball into an open net. 2-0.

On the other side Plzeň scored from one of their sporadic actions but the goal was disallowed by the video referee due to a previous offside. And the video was in action again following tackle on Tecl by Limberský in the box denying Slavia of the penalty previously awarded by the referee.

In the last minutes Frydrych could add third with his volley from behind the box but missed the right post close. Slavia thus beat Plzeň 2-0 reducing the difference to 6 points. On Wednesday there is another important game for the red & whites – the Czech MOL Cup final in Mladá Boleslav against FK Jablonec.
