Dukla Praha - Slavia
PRAGUE/JULISKA - Slavia seized three points after a lucky game against Dukla and secured their fifth place behind Liberec and five points ahead Zbrojovka Brno. The only scorer appeared to be one of the most unexpected ones - Dukla centre-back Štetina who deflected Mihalík´s cross into his own net.
Prior the game against Dukla Prague even the biggest optimists did not expect some goal race. In the previous ten games both teams scored only thirteen goals making it just 1.3 average per match.
Slavia manager Dušan Uhrin has made seven changes in the starting line-up in compare to the last game against Sparta. The only striker of the last game – Milan Škoda – started only on the bench because of hamstring injury from the previous week.
On the other hand it was young Antonín Barák who appeared in the starting eleven for the very first time and he tested Dukla goalkeeper Rada with his long-range effort. Rada however managed to punch the ball above the crossbar.
Seventeen minutes into the opening half Dukla showed their attacking skills for the first time, Pavlenka punched away Považanec’s shot and Mikula then managed to stop Breznaník’s rebound. On the other side of the pitch Dukla defenders managed to deflect Mihalík’s hard effort.
The first and only goal of the game came after 33 minutes. Mihalík sent sharp cross from the right wing and home centre-back Lukáš Štetina – trying not to let the pass through to Mešanovič – deflected the ball into his own net. 0-1 for Slavia.
The home side almost equalised few minutes later but Hanousek was flagged for offside before Gorkšs fired the ball into the net.
After an hour into the game Slavia seemed to return Dukla their favour in form of an own goal, however Deli luckily nearly missed his own goal after a badly performed clearance. Shortly afterwards Štetina fired a volley shot after a corner kick only to hit the crossbar behind Pavlenka.
Slavia goalkeeper who replaced injured no 1 Martin Berkovec showed his skills in 62nd minute when he caught Breznaník’s low-range effort. In 68th minute and shortly after that Beauguel and Mareš missed the target in another good opportunities for Dukla.
Dukla threw themselves into the offensive and Slavia could double their lead after promising counter attacks, but Vukadinovič missed the post and Zmrhal fired his shot only into the goalkeeper Rada.
Slavia thus seized all three point at Juliska stadium thanks to an own goal by Štetina. Next game is scheduled for Saturday, April 9 when the sewn-ones host Jablonec in Eden in one of the most important games of spring season.
