PRAGUE/EDEN - Seven changes into the starting eleven and another narrow win thanks to an early penalty. Slavia beat FK Teplice in the first league game of 2017/18 season thanks to Halil Altintop. The Turkish midfielder converted from the spot just 10 minutes into the game.
Seven changes in the starting eleven in compare to the BATE game on Tuesday have made a difficult start to 2017/18 HET liga for Slavia, but the team with Bílek, Altintop, Zmrhal, Mingazov, Souček, Ščuk a Mešanovič managed to set the pace on the beginning of the first half. Bořil’s attempt from behind the penalty area missed the target less than one minute into the game.

At minute 9 Slavia took the lead. Vondrášek hit the ball with his hand inside the penalty area and Halil Altintop scored the first league goal for Slavia from the spot.

Teplice could equalise some 10 minutes later but Jeřábek was denied by Laštůvka with his close-range effort. On the other side Zmrhal stood head to head with Grigar but was denied by Teplice goalkeeper.

Teplice were better on the beginning of the second half and Fillo could equalise shortly after the break but Bořil blocked his shot on the goal line.

Zmrhal could double the Slavia lead at minute 58 but his lob was stopped by one of the returning defenders. But Teplice were better team in the end and Laštůvka had to solve several difficult situations.

Despite Teplice’s pressure Slavia managed to keep the lead and entered the league victoriously. On Wednesday the red-and-whites travel to Borisov to face BATE in the second leg of Champions League 3rd qualifying round.

Match with Teplice saw some significant records for Slavia players. Jan Laštůvka recorded his 100th clean sheet in the league game and became member of League Goalkeepers’ club. Muris Mešanovič played his 100th game in the Premiere Leagues.

Slavia won 5–3 at Štruncovy Sady in the 15th round of the Chance Liga. Tomáš Chorý scored twice, Youssoupha Sanyang netted his first league goal, and Štěpán Chaloupek and Christos Zafeiris were also on target. The Red-Whites lead the domestic competition by two points heading into the international break.

Penalty, Early Second-Half Goal, and Defeat to Arsenal

Slavia fell 0–3 to Arsenal at Eden Arena in the 4th round of the Champions League league phase. The Premier League leaders took the lead through Saka’s converted penalty, Merino doubled the advantage in the first minute of the second half, and the same player later sealed the final score. A penalty initially awarded to Slavia was overturned by the referee after consulting VAR.
