Slavia Eliminated from Europa League

ANDERLECHT/CONSTANT VANDEN STOCK - Slavia was eliminated from 2016/17 UEFA Europa League and did not reach the group stage. After 0-3 defeat from Eden the game at Constant Vanden Stock stadium ended with the same score when two penalties in the first half turned to be pivotal moments of the night.

PLZEŇ/DOOSAN ARENA - Slavia scored opening goal against the defeating champions and took the 1-0 lead in the first half. However Viktoria managed to score three times after the break and deservedly took all three points.

PRAGUE/EDEN ARENA - The first league win of the season came only three days after 0-3 defeat with Anderlecht in Europa League play-off. And the game against Příbram ended with the same result thanks to the goals by Mešanovič, Škoda and Hušbauer.

PRAGUE/EDEN ARENA - Promising opening half spoiled by disastrous fourty five minutes after the break. That could be a short summary of Europa League play-off first leg between Slavia and Anderlecht. Goalless draw at half-time turned into 0-3 after the final whistle giving Slavia only little chance for the second leg.

JIHLAVA - Slavia drew in their second consecutive league game. The 1-1 result in Jihlava came thanks to Gino van Kessel who equalised on 51 minutes. Captain Jiří Bílek´s penalty was then saved by Hanuš and van Kessel again hit the post in the last minutes of the game.

PRAGUE/EDEN ARENA - Slavia played draw with Fastav Zlín in the late league premiere. The opening half seemed to be decisive after two strikes by Zlín´s Poznar and Holík, but van Kessel gave Slavia hope and Mešanovič crowned the drama with late equaliser on 90+4 minutes.

VOLA DO CONDE/ESTADIO DOS ARCOS - The European journey of 2016 is not over yet. Slavia played 1-1 at Estadio dos Arcos, home of Rio Ave, and after a goalless draw from Eden the sewn-ones qualified for UEFA Europa League play-off!

PRAGUE/EDEN ARENA - First game of Europa League 3rd qualifying round against Portugese Rio Ave ended in a goalless draw. Slavia had great opportunities by van Kessel and Škoda but goalkeeper Cássio made several fantastic saves denying Slavia their desired goal.

PRAGUE/EDEN ARENA - Despite losing 1-3 in the first leg, Slavia managed to qualify for the third qualifying round of Europa League - thanks to the "old" and the "new" face. Milan Škoda and Gino van Kessel scored two important goals which have pushed Slavia to the games against Portugese Rio Ave.

PRAGUE/EDEN ARENA - It was his very first game in Slavia and he immediately became the hero for many fans. The Netherlands-born striker Gino van Kessel assisted Milan Škoda for the first goal and scored the other one himself thus sending Slavia to the 3rd qualifying round vs. Portugese Rio Ave.

TALLINN - The first European appearance after seven years went bad for Slavia. The sewn-ones lost 1-3 to Levadia Tallin in the Europa League 2nd qualifying round and will have to score at least twice in the home game if they want to turn the course of the series and to qualify for the next round.

PRAGUE – Slavia have signed the top scorer of Slovakian league Dutchman Gino van Kessel until 30 June 2019. The plane with the right winger or striker landed in Prague on Wednesday morning.

PRAGUE/CELAKOVICE - Slavia lifted the trophy for the winner of Minister’s Cup in Celakovice. After defeating Slovakian side Tatran Presov (winner of Slovakian 2nd league 2015/16) 3-0 in semi-finals, the sewn-ones outplayed Slovan Liberec (3rd place in Czech SYNOT liga 2015/16) with the same goal difference in the finals. The fourth club to start in Celakovice was 1.FK Pribram (14th place in SYNOT liga 2015/16) Slavia are the most successful club of the traditional summer event with five triumphs since 2003.
Manager after training camp: Still some kinks to iron

Slavia finished their summer training camp in Austria with two narrow defeats and one draw but manager Dušan Uhrin was still satisfied with the course of the training. “Even though we still repeat some mistakes, we have some time to iron out all the kinks,” shows Uhrin his positive point of view.
