David Jurásek transfers to SL Benfica
On Saturday, David Jurásek left the training camp in Aigen, Austria, for Lisbon to complete his medical check on Monday. David is going to meet former Slavia players Alexander Bah and Petar Musa who are also squad members of the incumbent Portuguese champion which reached the quarter-finals of the Champions League in the last season and is going to play in the 2023/24 group stage again.
“Slavia helped me to make progress both in my professional and personal life. I met a lot of amazing people and we became very close. I will never forget our great team. The old guards Maso and Standa and others soon accepted me as a part of the team which helped me to focus on my performance on the pitch, to be myself. So big thanks to you guys.
I will also really miss the fans. I still remember my first home game, coincidentally the derby, so we had a full house. I had goose bumps when I was stepping on the pitch. And actually had them every time… I love everyone here so much. The year and a half I spent here might feel like a short time, but it was a great time. I will always remember it,” bids farewell David Jurásek.
The 22 yo left-footed wingback joined Slavia in February 2022 after a successful tally in Mladá Boleslav. He became a player for the Slavia starting eleven right away and scored his maiden goal on 24 April against Hradec Králové. He finished the season with a cherry on top – a Breakout Star of the Season Award. He carried on with his hard work to be one of the best backliners in the season that followed.
He gathered 55 caps in the red-white shirt, scored 3 goals and made 15 assists. He was a part of the team which made it into the Europa Conference League group stage where he made 3 assists. David also won the Czech FA Cup in early May.
David Jurásek made his national team debut on 24 March against Poland (3:1), made an assist and played also against Moldova and the Faroe Islands.
