2018/19 fixtures released

Fixtures for 2018/19 season of FORTUNA:LIGA were released. Slavia will start between 20th and 23rd July in Olomouc, regular season ends on 28th April. The Czech top competition will be also played in a new format with regular season followed by top six, and bottom six sections together with middle-four play-off games.
Slavia will start the 2018/19 league season between 20th and 23rd July with away game in Olomouc. First home game will follow a week later with Karviná followed by another home game against league newcomers from Opava.

Concerning top games of the regular season, Slavia will host the ruling champions Viktoria Plzeň on the brink of August and September. The 290th Prague Derby against Sparta will be played away on Letná Stadium between 2nd and 5th November. The home Derby against Sparta will be played as part of 28th round between 12th and 15th April.

The FORTUNA:LIGA – as is the new name for the Czech First League – has also brand new format replacing the current 30-round season. The new format consists of regular season (30 rounds) after which the competition splits into the top six section, bottom six section and the 7th to 10th place play-off. The teams in the top six section play each with each just once for the title and Champions League and Europa League spots (top 3 teams play 3 home games). Winner of the play-off plays for the Europa League spot with the 4th team of top six section (could be also 5th team depending on the MOL Cup results). Last team of the bottom six section is relegated to the National League, teams on 14th and 15th place will enter the play-out together with 2nd and 3rd from the National League.

In the eighth round, Slavia beat Karviná 3-1 at Fortuna Arena and got ready for Wednesday´s opening Champions League home game against Bodo/Glimt. Mojmír Chytil opened the scoring again, and Lukáš Vorlický responded to the visitors´ equalizer with his first goals for the A-team. All this took place in front of 19,309 spectators.
