41 games unbeaten! Slavia brakes 75-year old league record
Between 1943 and 1946 Sparta Prague managed to play 40 league games without a single loss and created a Czechoslovak league record. Between 2016 and 2017 Slavia stayed 36 games unbeaten and created a new record of an independent Czech league (since 1993). On the beginning of April 2021 Slavia drew in Brno which was their 37th unbeaten game in a row. And with three more wins and a draw at Bohemians we managed to create a new all-time Czech and Czechoslovak league record!
“It’s a unique thing, no team could have done that so far. Of course, we spoke about it in the dressing room, if you are close to beating such record, you want to do it. We were really happy,” said Slavia manager Jindřich Trpišovský.
Slavia started the unbeaten streak on 8 March 2020 with a 1-1 draw in the Derby against Sparta at home. From the 41 games we won 31 and drew 10 with 97 goals scored and 22 conceded. The highest wins came away against České Budějovice in August 2020 and in Opava in November 2020, both 6-0.
Away games record
Slavia also broke a record in the number of away league games unbeaten. So far, Sparta held the record with 19 games unbeaten away from home between 1943 and 1946, the Red-whites managed to match this number between 2016 and 2017. The goalless draw at Bohemians was our 20th away game unbeaten which created a new all-time record.
At home we are currently 47 games unbeaten in the Czech Fortuna Liga. Despite it being an impressive number, it’s only the 4th longest streak in Czech and Czechoslovak league history. The record belongs to Trnava who managed to stay unbeaten at home for 89 games between 1968 and 1974.
