Against KRC Genk in UEL Round of 32

Slavia will play Belgian side KRC Genk in UEFA Europa League Round of 32.
KRC Genk were founded in 1988, 96 years after Slavia, but already managed to win the Belgian top division three times (1999, 2002 and 2011) and Belgian Cup four times (1998, 2000, 2009 and 2013). They play their home games on Luminus Arena with capacity of 24 604 spectators.

Genk finished 5th in 2017/18 Jupiler League which secured them a Europa League qualification spot. But the Belgian side have a dreamy autumn behind. With 11 points they topped the Group “I” ahead of Malmö, Besiktas and Sarpsborg (W3-D2-L1) and they currently sit on top of Jupiler League table 7 points ahead of Club Brugge (W12-D6-L1).

Home game in Eden (Sinobo Stadium) should be played on 14 February, away leg in Genk on 28 February 2019.

Slavia made light work of their MOL Cup Round of 16 clash away at Zlín, securing a dominant 4–0 victory. The Reds decided the game already in the first half, when Mojmír Chytil opened the scoring. In the third round of the Champions League group stage, Slavia Prague held Atalanta to a 0–0 draw in Bergamo. The hero of the match was Jakub Markovič, who made at least four phenomenal saves on his Champions League debut. The “Red-and-Whites” picked up their second point in the group standings.

In the second round of the Champions League group stage, Slavia Prague were defeated 0–3 away to Inter Milan at the San Siro. Jindřich Staněk was beaten twice by Lautaro Martínez, a veteran of the sides’ memorable 1–1 draw six years ago, while Denzel Dumfries added a third for the hosts.
