Bem-vindo, Eduardo Santos

Brazilian defender Eduardo Santos signed four-year deal with Slavia after winning the league with Plzeň last year.

24-year old centre-back, full-back or defensive midfielder started the 2021/22 in Karviná and moved on loan to Viktoria Plzeň before the second half of the season. At the end, he could celebrate the Czech title and returned to Karviná who got relegated. Now he signed a new deal with Slavia until June 2026.

Eduardo Gonzaga Mendes Santos started his youth career in Fluminense before leaving for Portugal. He made his first senior caps for Real SC and Famalicaa in Portuguese second division. After shortly returning to Brazil, he moved to the Czech Republic in spring 2020 spending the opening half-a-year on loan in Karviná. When the club managed to avoid relegation Santos’ loan changed to a permanent transfer.

He became a key player for Karviná and in winter 2021 he moved again, this time on loan to Viktoria. He made 10 caps for the West-Bohemian club which finished first in the 2021/22 season, Santos had also the highest percentage of won duels in the entire league.

In 67 overall starts in the Czech top division Santos scored 3 goals and made 3 assists.

Slavia defeated Slovan Liberec 1–0 in the 17th round at Fortuna Arena, maintaining their perfect home record in the Chance League this fall. Mojmír Chytil scored the winning goal in the 41st minute, with Dominik Pech earning his first league assist. A total of 17,969 spectators attended the match in Eden.

Slavia Prague suffered a 1–2 defeat against Turkish side Fenerbahçe SK in the 5th round of the UEFA Europa League group stage, despite taking an early lead through Tomáš Chorý. The visitors turned the match around with goals from Edin Džeko and En Nesyri. Slavia remains on four points in the group.
