Benfica-Bah
Danish defensive universal moves to Portugal to join Benfica Lisbon. In the third club of the Portuguese league table, he will meet with another former Slavia player Petar Musa, who joins the club after a successful loan to Boavista.
Bah, awarded The Best Midfielder of 2021/22 Fortuna Liga, joined Slavia in January 2021 from Danish side SönderjyskE. In the second half of 2020/21 season he started to 17 games scoring one goal and winning both Czech league and Czech MOL Cup with the Red-Whites. He started to all games of the UEFA Europa League knockout stage against Leicester, Rangers and Arsenal and helped Slavia to reach the quarter finals.
In the last season he became a key man for Jindřich Trpišovský’s side scoring 3 goals and adding 9 assists in 26 games of the Fortuna Liga. He also scored two goals and assisted three times as Slavia reached the UEFA Europa Conference League quarter finals. He made 3 caps for the Danish national team.
I felt we spoke the same language in Slavia, even though my Czech is still bad
“I’m very proud of what we achieved in Slavia. We wrote history in the European competition, and we were unbeaten the first season. I’m still disappointed that we didn’t get a trophy in the last season because we had with no doubts the best team and should have won more, but I’m sure every player learned from it, and I believe Slavia will be even stronger.”
“From the first day I felt comfortable here and I think you could see that on the pitch. It was a good experience for me off and on the pitch. I learned a lot as a person and mostly as a football player and I’m very grateful for Slavia that they helped make my dream come true, again.
“There are many top moments. The Leicester win, some big wins against Sparta, cup final against Plzeň and maybe the game against Plzeň when we won 5-0 and secured the title.”
“I will come by the club and say thank you to everyone. Especially the coaches and my teammates, I owe them a big thank you because this would not be happening without them. I wish Slavia all the best in the future. The fans in Slavia also had a big impact on my development. I felt we spoke the same language since the beginning, even though my Czech is still very bad. They took me in since the beginning and gave me confidence on the pitch. So, thank you!”
“Now I expect to win every game, like we did in Slavia. It has been a couple of years since Benfica won the league, so that’s what I want to achieve when I start. And I want to play Champions League too, they reached the quarter finals this year as they usually do really good in the European competitions. I’m looking forward to being part of this.”
