František Cipro dies at 75

Slavia are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of former player and manager František Cipro.

František Cipro died on 7 February 2023, at the age of 75, after long illness.

Cipro started to 501 games for the Red-Whites as a player, he captained the team on many occasions. Highlight of his career was the 1974 Czech Cup win.

He later became Slavia manager three times. His first spell was the most successful leading the team to the 1996 Czech title ending thus the 49-year-long drought. In the same season Slavia also qualified for the UEFA Cup semi-finals, a year later won the Czech FA Cup.

He became Slavia manager for the second time between 1999 and 2000 and in 2010 for the third time. He also served as head of scouting at the same time.

František Cipro visited Slavia games regularly and was a frequent guest at Fortuna Arena.

The champs take over Prague! 314. derby decided by Oscar

​The champions of the Chance Liga added another feather to their cap on Saturday night, defeating Sparta 2–1 in the 314th Prague derby. Tomas Chory opened the scoring early, and Oscar sealed the dramatic win in the 87th minute to break the deadlock. It was Slavia’s 20th consecutive home league victory, surpassing a nearly century-old club record.

​The champions of this season’s Chance Liga returned to Fortuna Arena in style. In the 2nd round of the championship group, they erased a two-goal deficit against Plzen and claimed a thrilling 4–3 win — their third victory over the West Bohemian side this season. Goals from Schranz, Zafeiris, Zima, and Holes secured the triumph in front of 18,413 fans. Slavia remain perfect at home in this league campaign!
