Giannis-Fivos Botos transfers to Slavia

The new addition to Slavia is the talented Greek midfielder Giannis-Fivos Botos. The twenty-three-year-old player is joining from the Dutch second-division club Helmond Sport. He signed a contract with Slavia until June 30, 2028, and will start his tenure on loan.

"Giannis is a talented player, good for offensive play. He has an interesting football resume, having experienced foreign engagements. Additionally, he is capable of playing in several positions. We believe that he could become a valuable player for Slavia one day, but it is necessary to prepare him for our level and give him time. Therefore, he will start his tenure on loan, which we are arranging for him in the top Czech league," says Slavia´s sports director Jiří Bílek.

"I am thrilled. Slavia is a big European club, well-known even in Greece. When I found out they were interested in me, there was no doubt," adds Giannis-Fivos Botos.

The twenty-three-year-old Athens native and AEK academy graduate primarily plays as a central attacking midfielder. In the past season, he scored nine goals and provided seven assists in 38 matches for Helmond Sport in the second-highest competition.

Overall, it was the third year in the Netherlands for the 172-centimeter-tall midfielder. He also played one season in the top-tier Eredivisie, having been promoted with the team G.A. Eagles during a two-year loan from AEK.

In his career, Botos also had a loan stint at Sheriff Tiraspol, where he played eight matches and scored three goals in the autumn of the 2022/23 season. His football resume also includes one appearance in the Europa League on November 5, 2020, for AEK against Zorya, and two matches in the Champions League qualifiers for Sheriff against Viktoria Plzeň.
