Jan Stejskal joins Slavia on loan for half the season
23-year old Stejskal will spend the autumn part of the 2020/21 season on loan to Slavia with option for permanent transfer. On the Other hand, the loan of 19-year old Slavia goalkeeper Jakub Markovič does not include the subsequent option.
Jan Stejskal started his youth career in Pardubice, in 2015 he joined Hradec Králové and during 2017/18 he started to 13 games in Czech second league on loan to Olympia Prague. A year later he moved to Mladá Boleslav where he made his league debut against Teplice in May 2019. Last season he started to 13 league games for Mladá Boleslav. Jan Stejskal played for all Czech youth national teams including the U21.
“First thing that came to my mind after was just wow. I had to pinch myself to see if I was dreaming. You just cannot refuse Slavia offer, it is the biggest club in Czechia and they play extraordinary football in Europe. I did not hesitate,” Jan Stejskal said during his first day in Eden.
“Of course, Koli [Ondřej Kolář] is number one here in Slava. I join the club to prepare, to be ready and to get used to the style of play the manager wants us to play. That’s why we agreed on half-year loan with option for permanent transfer. We will see whether the manager will like me and whether I get chance to replace Koli,” Stejskal continued.
“Jan is very talented goalkeeper and our coaching staff know him from his young age. We believe he can succeed in Slavia in the future and that he will fit into the team now. We wish him good luck in his work for Slavia,” Sports Director Jiří Bílek added.
