Jindřich Trpišovský appointed new Slavia manager

PRAGUE – 41-year old Jindřich Trpišovský was appointed new first team coach on Friday. He succeeds Jaroslav Šilhavý who had been dismissed earlier this week. Trpišovský has been managing Slovan Liberec in the past two years and will thus continue his cooperation with new Slavia Sports manager Jan Nezmar.
Jindřich Trpišovský will work in close cooperation not only with Jan Nezmar who has been his close co-worker in Slovan, but also with his assistants Zdeněk Houštecký and Jaroslav Köstl or the goalkeeper coach Štěpán Kolář.

“It is a big honour for me to be part of such a club. I know I am joining the oldest and most traditional club in the Czech Lands with a huge fan base. I feel a big commitment to all people who come to the stadium. They are the most important,” Trpišovský said after his sppointment.

Jindřich Trpišovský (41) has managed Slovan Liberec in 76 league games since June 2015. He finished fourth in the 2017/18 autumn season. During this period Slovan played five times with Slavia, ending our record streak of 36 games unbeaten this autumn (Slavia 1-2 Slovan in Eden Arena).

As the first team coach Trpišovsky qualified twice for the UEFA Europa League group stage with Slovan. In 2015/16 Liberec finished third behind Marseille and Braga, in the following season they finished fourth being drawn with Fiorentina, PAOK and Quarabag.

Trpišovský started his managing career with youth teams of Bohemians 1905 and Sparta Prague. Before moving to Liberec he managed another traditional Prague club – FK Viktoria Žižkov (2nd tier) – as an assistant and later as a first coach. In Slovan he has met current Slavia players Tomáš Souček and Jan Sýkora.
