This move can continue as permanent transfer in case Dresden will stay in 2. Bundesliga for 2020/21 season.
Hušbauer joined Slavia from city rivals Sparta 4 years ago with fresh experience from his spell in Italian side Cagliari. He is thus one of few players who captained both teams – Slavia and Sparta – in Prague Derby. In 122 league games for Slavia he scored 22 goals (5 of them in current season) and added 33 assists. He lifted Czech title twice (2017,2019) and Czech cup twice (2018, 2019). In current season he was one of vice-captains of the team.
29-year old midfielder made 25 appearances for Slavia in European competitions. In 2019 he reached UEFA Europa League quarter-finals with Slavia, this season he made 5 caps in UEFA Champions League group stage. In 2017 his shot from distance against Maccabi Tel Aviv in Europa League was awarded as Goal of the Year in the Czech Republic.
“I got several attractive offers, but I believe that if Slavia still want me as their player, they have their reasons to do so. That is why I chose the half-year loan with possible buyout option. I believe and I promise that I will do everything to help them avoid relegation from the 2. Bundesliga,” Josef Hušbauer said.
“When I joined Slavia, it was not an easy move for me. I wanted to play regularly again, and that was a real challenge for me. I wanted to help the famous club to rise again and first moments were really difficult, but thanks to the people who believed in me I managed it. Those four years belong to the most beautiful in my career. Together we made unbelievable things happen and I am proud of it. Slavia became my home during those years and I always did maximum to contribute to their performance,” Hušbauer added.
