New Slavia signing: Youssoupha Sanyang

Youssoupha Sanyang is transferring to Slavia Prague from Swedish side Östers IF. The 19-year-old winger has signed a contract at Eden until June 2030.

Under head coach Jindřich Trpišovský, Sanyang becomes the tenth player to join Slavia from Scandinavia.

“We discovered him very early, after just two matches in the top Swedish league. He went through our system and we all agreed on him. He’s an interesting, talented, left-footed player. He can play as a winger or a wing-back. He’s fast, has great acceleration, and is excellent in one-on-one situations. He’s also a very good runner, able to switch between attack and defense. We believe our coaching staff can help him reach the next level,” said Slavia’s sporting director Jiří Bílek.

“I’m happy to have signed here in Prague. This is the next step in my football career and I’m really looking forward to it. I play on both wings, right and left. Sometimes I also play in midfield as a number ten, because I like to dribble, run, and cross the ball for my teammates to score. I also score sometimes, but mostly I love working with the ball, dribbling, crossing and things like that,” said Youssoupha Sanyang when describing his strengths.

The young left-footed defender, a native of Gambia, spent last year on loan at Västerås, but the team was relegated from the top division. He had previously played for Senegalese club Teungueth FC before transferring to Östers at the end of January.

In the current season (played spring-to-autumn), Sanyang has made ten appearances for the red-and-blues of Växjö, registering two assists.

Östers IF, a newcomer to the league, currently sits second to last in the table after ten rounds.
