New contract for Tomáš Souček

Key player of last successful season, midfielder Tomáš Souček, remains in Slavia. The defensive midfielder signed new contract till 30 June 2024.
Tomáš Souček signed new 5-year deal with Slavia, his current contract is thus valid till 30 June 2024. “I must thank all my teammates and coaching staff for supporting me. I would not be here without them. And then I must appreciate work of my agent and of Mr. Jaroslav Tvrdík. Signing new 5-year deal in Slavia is great challenge for me. I hope we will qualify for the UEFA Champions League which is everybody’s dream here. After a successful last season, we would like to perform even better,” Souček said after the press conference with Chairman of Slavia Board Jaroslav Tvrdík and Sports Director Jan Nezmar.

Souček played key role in the 2018/19 season. He played 4 434 minutes in all competitions, scored 18 goals (including 5 in Prague Derbys against Sparta) and added 9 assists as defensive midfielder. At the end he was awarded Best Player of the Season in the Czech FORTUNA:LIGA.

“Our main goal for the next season is the Champions League. But even if we would not make it, there will be Europa League in which we want to succeed. We saw what Ajax or Shakhtar Donetsk did several years ago. And I think that Slavia could be on their level.”

“The offer of new contract made me very happy. The club proved they want me here and I am glad for that. We have great relationship with Mr. Tvrdík, so we easily made a deal. My decision was based on my relationship to the club and I am glad I can stay.”

“Slavia means great motivation for me. Not only the team, but also people who support the club all over the Czech Republic. I am glad they like me. It would be great honour for me to play in the Champions League and I wish this for all the people around the club,” Souček said.
