Peter Olayinka signs 4-year deal in Slavia

Nigerian forward Peter Olayinka signed a 4-year deal in Slavia. 22-year old player with experience from the Czech league transfers from Belgian club KAA Gent.
Nigerian universal offensive player signed a 4-year deal for the red & whites and will wear no 9 on his shirt. “Slavia signed Peter Olayinka for the transfer fee of 3,2 mil euro with no exit clause,” Slavia chairman of board Jaroslav Tvrdík said.

“I am very happy, and I was happy from the moment I knew there was an interest form Slavia and I could return to Prague. I know the city and I was tempted to come back because Slavia is one of top teams of Czech football,” Olayinka said.

And what are the goals of the 22-year old player in Slavia? “When I played for Dukla Slavia became champions. And I can imagine that they will be champions again and I want to play my part in it. It is a great chance for me. Slavia is the club where I can be champion,” our new reinforcement added.

Peter Olayinka was born on 16th November 1995 in the third biggest Nigerian city Ibadan. He can play with both legs and start on any offensive position. Last year he played most of the games for Zulte Waregem as left winger, but he also altered as centre forward, offensive midfielder or right winger.


Olayinka played in Nigerian city of Lagos till his 17th birthday before moving to Europe trying his luck in Albanian club Bylis Ballsh. For his first caps in senior football he moved to Northern Cyprus playing for Yenicami SK. Breaking point came in the year 2014 when he returned to Albania and transferred to Skënderbeu where he scored 9 goals in 17 games of his opening season.

Two years later the Nigerian signed for Belgian side KAA Gent but was sent on loan to the Czech Republic scoring 6 goals and adding 3 assists for Dukla Prague. During the last season people could see Olayinka – nicknamed “the bird” – on loan in Belgian club Zulte Waregem. In 40 games the Nigerian scored 11 goals and added 15 assists. He also played 4 games in the Group stage of UEFA Europa League.

During the summer Belgian, French and German clubs were interested in his services, but Olayinka opted for Slavia. He will travel to watch the opening game of the season in Olomouc on Sunday and will join the team next week.

Slavia Prague suffered a 1–2 defeat against Turkish side Fenerbahçe SK in the 5th round of the UEFA Europa League group stage, despite taking an early lead through Tomáš Chorý. The visitors turned the match around with goals from Edin Džeko and En Nesyri. Slavia remains on four points in the group.
