Second week of mid-season preparation: Two wins in friendlies

PRAHA – The second week of mid-season preparation is coming to an end. The players were getting back in shape in Nymburk where they could train on natural grass. Slavia also faced two opponents in friendly matches.
Slavia – Táborsko 3-1

The Friday match against Táborsko took place on a snowy pitch in Nymburk. Antonín Barák a Zdeněk Linhart returned from the U21 national team training camp and debuted in the red-white jersey. Slavia opened the score in the second half of the match as soon as most of the snow melted away. In the 50th minute Miljan Vukadinovič lobbed the goalkeeper and Slavia took 1-0 lead. In 69th minute Zmrhal scored after a cross from Mikula. Two minutes later came a great opportunity for Marek Kodr who only hit the crossbar. Táborsko managed to score their only goal in 75th minute, when Froněk successfully aimed for the goalpost. Zdeněk Linhart hit the net at the very end of the match and Slavia won 3-1.

Slavia – Chrudim 2-0

The Saturday match against Chrudim was moved to the artificial turf in Eden because of the poor weather conditions. Dušan Uhrin sent out a different line-up for each half and both line-ups scored once. Vukadinovič’s opener came after Zmrhal’s cross from the left side in the 13th minute. Jan Kuchta undid his previous miss in the 80th minute, when he lobbed goalkeeper of Chrudim setting the final score 2-0 for Slavia.

Slavia’s top striker Milan Škoda celebrated his 30th birthday on Saturday and he is recovering from a minor injury. He should be back in full training on Monday as well as Georgian playmaker Levan Kenia.

The last match before the mid-season training camp in Spain is on Wednesday 20 January at 11:00. Slavia will face Ústí nad Labem at the artificial turf in Eden.
