Sevilla v Slavia: Form Guide

Slavia will face the most successful club of UEFA Europa League on Thursday. But Sevilla FC have their problems too, losing 5 out of last 10 games.
Sevilla sit currently on 6th place of Spanish La Liga, 23 points behind leaders FC Barcelona. “Los Rojiblancos” have lost 3 out of last 5 games and 2 last league games (2-4 home to Barcelona, 1-2 away to Huesca).

On the other hand, their Europa League home record is rather impressive. Sevilla have won 19 out of last 20 home European games. This year, including qualifiers, they scored 24 home goals, conceding only 1 (5-1 Liége, 6-0 Akhisarspor, 3-0 Krasnodar, 4-0 Újpest, 1-0 Zalgiris, 3-0 Olomouc). Sevilla won the Group J with 12 points – equal to Krasnodar FC – and eliminated Lazio (0-1 win away and 2-0 win home) in Round of 32. Sevilla is the most successful club of UEFA Europa League so far with 3 titles from 2014, 2015 and 2016.

Slavia – on the other hand – have won last 3 games with impressive score of 11-1 (Genk away, Slovacko home, Bohemians away). The red-whites also have the second best defence in Europa League (4 conceded goals in 8 games).

Sevilla goalkeeper Tomáš Vaclík played 6 games against Slavia for Sparta Prague and Viktoria Žižkov in Czech First League, losing only one.

Sevilla have already travelled to the Czech Republic this season in UEL Play-off against Sigma Olomouc (winning 1-0). They haven’t lost any of their 7 previous encounters with Czech Clubs. Slavia – in contrary – have won only 1 out of 10 games with Spanish clubs. The red-whites drew their last 2 games on Spanish soil (1-1 at Valencia and 2-2 at Villarreal). Slavia have played against Sevilla in 2007/08 Champions League Group Stage, losing 2-4 away and 0-3 home.

Two players in current Slavia squad have already played against Sevilla in 2013/14 Europa League Group Stage (1-1 and 1-1): Vladimír Coufal and current 2nd goalkeeper Přemysl Kovář.
