Sima joins Brighton & Hove Albion
Abdallah Sima joined Slavia reserves in the spring of 2020 from the third-tier FC Táborsko and the absences caused by Covid-19 made his way to the first team in the autumn part of the 2020/21 season. He scored against OGC Nice in his Europa League debut and managed to score 9 goals in the 9 following league and Europa League games.
Overall, Sima scored 20 goals in 39 games for Slavia first team and reserves during the 2020/21 season (11 in the Czech league and 4 in the UEFA Europa League). At the end of the season the Senegalese forward was named Revelation of the Season at the League Football Association Awards.
In March 2021 Sima received his first call-up to the national team of Senegal. He made two starts against Congo and Eswatini in the Africa Cup of Nations Qualification.
For the Slavia first team Sima scored 16 goals and added 7 assists in 39 games. At the end of the last season, he could celebrate Czech Double – third Slavia title in a row and third MOL Cup win in the last four years. He also helped the club to go through to the UEFA Europa League quarter-final with 3 goals in the group stage and a match-winner at Leicester City in the round of 32.
Brighton have won 2 out of their 3 Premier League games this season and sit eight in the league table. Last year the Seagulls finished 16th, 13 points above the relegation zone. Manager Graham Potter can rely on big names in his squad such as Belgian international Leandro Trossard, French striker Neal Maupay, or former England international Danny Welbeck.
Good luck in England, Simi!
