Towards the fourth win against Nice?

The red-whites have played 18 games against French opponents. The match on Thursday will be our 7th encounter with Nice.

Slavia won only 5 out of previous 18 games against opponents from France (5 draws and 8 defeats). The red-whites have recorded the two biggest wins against Nice, the biggest defeat came against Lille in the UEFA Europa League Group Stage in 2009. Our last French opponents before OGC were Bordeaux in 2018/19 UEL (1-0 home win, 0-2 away defeat).

OGC Nice were our very first opponents from France in 1972 Intertoto Cup. The red-whites won 4-0 home in Eden and after the 2-2 away draw at Stade Municipal du Ray managed to win their group.

Another encounter against Les Aiglons came in 1997 Cup Winners’ Cup. After a 2-2 away draw the home game finished in a tie too, this time 1-1. Both away goals were scored by Vácha and secured Slavia qualification for the quarter-finals. There the red and whites lost to future winners VfB Stuttgart.

Last game Slavia played against OGC Nice was three years ago. In July 2017 Les Aiglons travelled to Prague for a pre-season friendly and were 1-0 up after the opening half, but Škoda and van buren both scored two goals after the break and Slavia came from behind to win 4-1. Only goalkeeper Walter Benitez and midfielder Pierre Lees Melou remained in Nice squad until these days.

The game on Thursday will be the sixth encounter between Slavia and Nice. The red-whites can prolong their series of games without a loss - they were never defeated by Les Aiglons, won 2 and drew 3 mutual games. Slavia are now 15 games unbeaten home in Eden with the last defeat in November 2019 against Inter Milan.
