Tomáš Chorý joins Slavia

The national team striker Tomáš Chorý is transferring to Slavia. The twenty-nine-year-old forward, a two-time league champion and scorer of fifty league goals, who most recently played for Viktoria Plzeň, has signed a contract with Slavia until June 30, 2027.

"The mission of this club has always been to defeat our biggest rival in the derby, win titles, and bring joy to our fans. I believe that Tomáš´s arrival to an already strong Slavia team will help us fulfill this historic mission better than in recent years," says Chairman Jaroslav Tvrdík.

"I want to achieve more in life, advance in my career. I want to be useful to the team, score goals, earn points, and play in the Champions League again. Jindra Staněk and other Slavia national team players helped me with my decision. I probably have a certain reputation throughout the country, which I won´t get rid of. I want to show the fans my true self—that I am a winner, that I won´t give up a single battle. Now, I´ll take a short vacation with my family, then return to training. And I´ll be ready to kick off this new chapter," says Tomáš Chorý.

Tomáš Chorý made his debut in the top league on February 22, 2014, for Sigma Olomouc against Slavia. At the beginning of 2018, he moved from Haná to Viktoria Plzeň, where he gradually became a key player.

With Plzeň, he celebrated two championship titles and played in the Champions League group stage, scoring twice in a home match against Barcelona on November 1, 2022. In the past season, he was part of Viktoria´s run to the quarterfinals of the Conference League, scoring four goals and providing two assists, only being eliminated after extra time by the eventual finalist Fiorentina.

In the 2023/24 domestic league season, he scored twelve goals and added five assists in 30 matches, converting four MOL Cup appearances into three goals. He excelled in matches against the other big Prague team, scoring four goals in three encounters between March 10 and May 26.

Overall, in the Czech top league over nine seasons, the two-meter-tall striker played 207 matches, scoring 50 goals and providing 18 assists. He received 44 yellow cards and was never sent off.

His football resume also includes a foreign stint at Belgian club Waregem in the 2020/21 season, where he played 16 matches, scoring four goals and providing one assist.

Chorý made his national team debut on November 20, 2023, in the final Euro 2024 qualifying match, helping with a goal and an assist in the victory over Moldova, securing qualification for the European Championship. He participated in matches against Portugal and Turkey at the European Championship.
