Tomáš Souček wins autumn part of Czech Golden Ball

Ondřej Kolář finishes third. Four Slavia players are among top ten.
Tomá Souček was one of key players in successful autumn part of 2019/20 season. In Czech FORTUNA:LIGA he played 17 games, scored 8 goal and added 3 assists. 24-year old midfielder did not miss a single minute in Slavia Champions League campaign (2 games in qualifying round and 6 more games in group stage) and scored two goals against Inter and Borussia. Souček also played key part in successful Czech EURO 2020 qualification. He did not miss a single minute in all 8 qualifying games and scored one goal against Montenegro. Czech national team qualified from second place in group A behind England.
"Itīs a great feeling, especially when I see the competition around me. Since I was young I have been watching the best Czech players, the neational team, I admired all of them. I had their posters on the wall and when I saw them I always wanted a photo. And now I am among them winning the autumn part of Golden Ball. Regarding individual achievements, this is maybe the best thing that happened to me," Souček said.
"The whole year 2019 was the best in my career so far. It all started when my daughter was born in January and then came the great spring with Europa League and some first individual awards. It continued in the autumn. I always wanted to become key player for Slavia which holds a special place in my heart. Now I play every game even in the national team. Thatīs why i enjoy football so much right now, thatīs why I do it," Slavia midfielder continued.
Slavia goalkeeper Ondřej Kolář finished third in autumn part of the competition behind another goalkeeper Tomá Vaclík of Sevilla FC. Our left-back Jan Bořil takes 7th place, right-back Vladimír Coufal closes the top ten. Midfielder Alex Král who moved to Spartak Moscow after successful UCL play-off finished 4th.

Czech Golden Ball is an annual survey organised by Club of Sports Journalists. It is awarded after each season when the spring points are added to those from autumn part. Last year Souček finished third in another Czech football award - the Footballer of the Year 2018.
