Slavia U19 came from behind and defeated Inter in UEFA Youth League 4:1. Joao Felipe managed to pull out a stunning hattrick.
After a 5-goal thriller in Barcelona, in which the Red-Whites secured crutial three points in respect to their chances of the qualification from the UEFA Youth League group, home game against Inter seemed as a perfect opportunity to boost their chances and position in the group F.
To pleasure of the home fans, Slavia was the first to create some chances – namely Joao Felipe. The Brazilian found some space on the edge of the box and unleashed a curling effort onto the far post, but Pozzer in the goal saved his effort.
Slavia was the better team throughout the first half, but the away team initially scored first. Jakub Surovčík’s attempt to link with a defender was read by Fonseca, who took advantage of the keeper’s mistake and scored the first goal of the game – 0:1.
But the Red-Whites kept calm, kept on producing the same high-pressing football and the patiance and attitude paid off straight away! On the 34th minute, Inter defender failed to clear Douděra’s cross from the right side and only kicked the ball into the path of Joao Felipe, who rolled the ball calmly past the keeper and put it into the net – 1:1!
In the next phase of the game, both teams exchanged goal-scoring oppurtunities and Surovčík was forced to make a few decent stops to keep the score level.
On the 41st minute, Joao Felipe followed the same pattern as in the chance from the beginning. He cut inside from the left and pulled the trigger! However, this time he went for the near post instead of the right top corner – perfectly strucked ball flew in the back of the net and completed comeback with his second – 2:1 for Slavia!
Who expected tough battle until the last minute of the 2nd half, must have been surprised by the maturity of the Slavia players and the way they coped with the next 45.
On the 49th minute, the Red-Whites were awarded a free-kick just on the edge of the penalty box. Joao Felipe took the responsibility and smashed the ball into the top corner! Fabulous goal meant only one thing – hattrick for the Brazilian and 3:1 lead for Slavia.
Only 4 minutes passed and the Red-Whites added another one to secure the game. Lukáš Červ fought off the possesion in the midfield. Red-White #17 eventually tried his chance with a long range strike aimed on the left post. And aimed precisely indeed – 4:1!
Three-goal lead was enough for Slavia players to calmly control the game until the last minute of the match. Crucial three points from the 4:1 win against Inter mean, that Slavia will qualify from the group stage, if manages to get at least one point from the last match in Dortmund. Sixth group match will be played on December 10.
