Slavia - Dynamo Kyjev
Goals: 90. Hušbauer (pen) - 82. Verbič
Slavia drew 1-1 with Dynamo Kyiv in their opening game of Champions League 3rd qualifying round. Despite being better team Dynamo opened the score by Verbič in the 82nd minute. The red-whites managed to equalize from the spot by Hušbauer in the added time.
Slavia line-up saw only one change again in compare to the last league game with Opava. Stanislav Tecl was replaced by Milan Škoda as a lone striker.

But it was Dynamo who could score first. Just two minutes into the game Tsygankov sent low cross from right wing and Besyedin stood alone in front of our net, but Kolář managed to deflect his attempt to the woodwork. Dynamo set the pace of the game during opening 20 minutes and first Slavia chance came by Škoda, however our captain directed his header just into Boyko’s gloves.

The red-whites gradually equalled the game and started creating opportunities to score. But Stoch’s free kick was headed away by Dynamo defence on the near post and half-volley by Coufal missed the right post.

After the break it was Slavia who dominated the game and did not let Dynamo to dangerous situations. At minute 53 Hušbauer latched onto a bounced ball after a long throw-in, but his effort was blocked by one of the Kyiv defenders. Just 4 minutes later Stoch created good shooting position outside of the box but his left-footed effort directed only to the centre of the goal. On the other side Verbič tried his luck with individual dribbling but his subsequent shot was blocked by Simon Deli.

Slavia players gained confidence and Josef Hušbauer was close to open the score on 68th minute, but his shot after Sýkora’s free kick missed the right post by few centimetres.

However, it was Dynamo who opened the score from one of their rare offensive actions. Slavia players stopped playing awaiting interruption of the game because of the second ball on the pitch, but referee Pawson did not blow his whistle, Sydorchuk lobbed the ball to Verbič and he fired it through Kolář to make it 1-0.

Conceded goal increased Slavia activity, boosted by substitutions of Tecl and Olayinka. After Olayinka’s cross Stoch created promising position, but his shot was blocked by the defence. Shortly before the end of the regular time Souček was denied by Boyko with his blistering shot under the crossbar, Deli’s subsequent header missed the target close.

Equalizer thus came in the added time. Deli’s blocked shot ended on Tecl’s foot in front of an open net, Kedziora’s sliding tackle hit our forward’s ankles and the referee blew for penalty. Hušbauer fired to the left top corner from the spot and made it 1-1 on the 90+4’ minute.
