PRAGUE – Slavia kept Celtic at bay and played a goalless draw with the Scots in their last game before departing for training camp in Austria.
Before the game both clubs honoured former Celtic player and Slavia manager J. W. Madden. His commemorative plaque was unveiled on the Slavia walk of fame and the main stand of Eden Arena was named “J. W. Madden Stand” to commemorate a spiritual father of Czech professional football.

There were not many chances in the first half despite dominant possession by Celtic. At minute 5 Laštůvka saved Lustig’s long-range shot with his fingertips.

After 37 minutes Škoda and Frydrych had the biggest chances for Slavia but our captain did not reach for Mingazov’s low cross and a few seconds later Frydrych aimed his header over the crossbar.

In the 2nd half Slavia introduced their new reinforcement – ex-Bundesliga player Halil Altintop, who was cheered by more than 10 thousand fans in Eden.

Despite Jaroslav Šilhavý making several changes in Slavia line-up it was Celtic who went closer to goal after Sinclair got a perfect pass from Griffiths but could not apply the finish from close range.

Few minutes later McGregor managed to create some space inside the penalty area after a brilliant individual work but he failed to hit the target from close range.

Slavia thus played 0-0 with Celtic in the most visited friendly game of recent years. On Wednesday the team is leaving for a training camp in Austria.
