Leicester City - Slavia
Goals: 49. Provod, 79. Sima
Slavia defeated Leicester City 2-0 away thanks to second-half goals by Lukáš provod and Abdallah Sima.
Jindøich Trpišovský made one change to the line-up which faced Leicester at home last week. But it was Leicester who got into the first chance when Koláø punched Ünder’s cross away and the ball rebounded to Söyüncü who fired it over the crossbar from 6 metres. Ünder got into another chance just few seconds later, but he missed wide with his effort from outside the box.

Slavia started the game very carefully and in the 19th minute Evans could shoot on the far post after the first Leicester corner, but his effort was directed only to Olayinka who managed to pass the ball back to safety for Koláø.

Slavia had to wait for their opening chance for almost 28 minutes. Stanciu sent a long cross from his own half and Sima latched onto his pass between the centre-backs, but his clever effort from outside the box missed the left post.

Ten minutes later Sima passed the ball to Bah on the right wing and the Danish right back found Kuchta inside the box with his cross, but our striker’s header was directed far from the right post.

The Red-whites were growing into the game towards the end of the opening half, but apart of several set pieces they could not create any goalscoring opportunities.

Slavia entered the second half much better and put Leicester under pressure from the opening minutes. After the first corner kick Kuchta deflected the cross on the near post and Hromada found the ball unattended inside of the box, but he could not hit the ball properly in a good shooting position.

However, Slavia took lead in the 49th minute. Nicolae Stanciu got enough space on the left side to send a long cross into the box, Lukáš Provod found a free space on the far post and became the match-winner when he fired the ball through Schmeichel with a beautiful volley.

Brendan Rodgers made triple substitution 11 minutes after the conceded goal sending in Barnes, Ricardo and Castagne and Leicester started to recover from the initial shock. But Slavia did not allow the hosts into any dangerous situation.

After 79 minutes Abdallah Sima secured the win for Slavia when he latched onto a pass by Peter Olayinka and sent the ball into the bottom right corner from outside the box.

Slavia thus eliminated Leicester City after a 0-0 draw at home and 2-0 away win. It was our first win against English club since 1999 when we defeated Leeds United 2-1 home and first ever win in England in the modern history of the club.

The draw of the Round of 16 will be held on Friday, 26 Feruary.
