Off to the North-East!

MINSK - Slavia have arrived to Minsk for tomorrow’s second leg of UEFA Champions League 3rd qualifying with BATE. “We believe in good result, good enough to qualify,” manager Jaroslav Šilhavý said after the arrival to the capital of Belarus. Slavia are travelling to Borisov tomorrow, the game is scheduled at 8 pm local time 7 pm CET).

Šilhavý: We’re coming with faith


“We scored one more goal in the first leg, but that does not mean virtually anything. Of course we are going to Belarus with faith and we believe in result good enough to qualify,” manager Jaroslav Šilhavý said.

“We could score more goals home, but we can’t change it now. We need to prepare for the second leg. It will be a different game because we have played against ten men home. BATE need to chase us now and we expect them to be more active. But I think that we could take advantage of that and score the goal which would be very important for us,” Šilhavý added.

Jugas: We need to score, the 1-0 lead is not enough


“The Game will be really difficult. We play away and the 1-0 advantage is not enough to be safe. We need to score, that will be the key of the game, and then we need to hold such result,” centre-back Jakub Jugas said.

“No doubts that the games with BATE are key moment of the season in order to get into the European cups. Of course there is some pressure, but we are professionals and we are here to handle the situation,” added Jugas, who was in starting line-up in both games against BATE and Teplice.

“They will try to score but such a tactic could be good for us. If we create some opportunities, we need to score and then I believe we can secure the qualification,” concluded Jugas.

Slavia kicked off their Champions League group stage campaign with a 2–2 draw against Norwegian champions Bodø/Glimt. Jindřich Trpišovský’s side led by two goals — both scored by Youssoupha Mbodji — but the visitors managed to equalize late in the game. Goalkeeper Jindřich Staněk also made a crucial save from the penalty spot while the score was 1–0.
