1938 Mitropa Cup in colour
More than 80 years from our opening game of 1938 Mitropa Cup you can see Slavia line-up in colour again.
On 4 July 1938 Slavia beat Beogradski SK (later renamed OFK Beograd) 2-1 home in Prague and confirmed their progress to the second round of the most prestigious continental competition of the first half of 20 th century. Their journey ended with lifting the cup 2 month later for the very first time. Now you can see unique colorized picture showing Slavia line-up before the game in Prague.
The game was played on Sparta stadium which stood literally across the street from Slavia stadium on Letná hill in the centre of Prague (as it was bigger and more up to date at that time). Slavia line-up from left: Vojta Bradáč, Vlasta Kopecký, Černý, Šimůnek, Nožíř, Vytlačil, Bican, Horák, Daučík, Václav Bouška and goalkeeper Bokšay.
And if you want to compare, here is the original black and white picture from 1938.
