We entertained people. That’s what football is all about

“We lost in a great game. This is how football should look like,” says Slavia manager Jindřich Trpišovský.
“I agree that we are leaving Champions League with heads held high. We lost in Dortmund, but we lost in a great game. That’s how football should look like. We played away, against team who fought to advance into the next stage, who had to put all their eggs into one basket. They played with all their quality and we managed to create seven or eight chances though. Had we shown a little bit more quality, we could maybe even win the game,” Jindřich Trpišovský said after the game.

“Despite finishing last in the group and losing the last game, it was great to have a chance to play here in Dortmund with the support of sold-out away sector and with thousands more Slavia fans on the stands. It’s sad that we leave with no win and no points again. But if somebody would say us two years ago that we would play here in Dortmund such an equal game and create so many chances, we would definitely answer that it cannot happen in two years,” Slavia managed admitted.

“Hats off to our players for what they have shown on the pitch. I don’t like the word, but I can say we all enjoyed it. We enjoyed the group we had, we enjoyed this stadium, we enjoyed this game. That’s the positive outcome of the Champions League,” Trpišovský praised his players.

“I think that everybody had fun and enjoyed the football and chances in the game. That’s what football is all about. We came up to what we wanted, to show the biggest quality in the game, football skill and offensive. Even though we lost, we met the most important rule of football, people had fun,” Slavia boss stated.

“Game at Borussia was something special for me. I have seen hundreds of Dortmund games in my life, I saw all the areas where players were preparing for Champions League entrance on the pitch. And now I stand here. For me this is the best football atmosphere in Europe and on top of that you see and hear sold-out away sector full of your fans. This has been highlight of wat I could experience in European competitions. It’s a pity we did not win or got any points, but it was great experience for all of us. It’s a magical place, magical stadium and the atmosphere is superb. We are happy Slavia could be here, play here in a game where Dortmund had to fight for their Champions league survival. After all, last ten minutes of the game we pressed them and spent them entirely around their box,” Trpišovský concluded.
