First defeat of the season came in second game of Champions League. Slavia lost 0-2 to Borussia Dortmund.
Slavia started with Stanislav Tecl as a lone striker supported by Olayinka and Masoupust on both wings. Petr Ševčík replaced Josef Hušbauer in midfield in compare to the game against Mladá Boleslav.

Borussia got into the first chance of the game just after 2 minutes when Kolář had to block Sancho’s effort from sharp angle. Four minutes later Slavia recorded their first opportunity but Coufal’s cross was too long for Olayinka.

On 16th minute Borussia got into another big chance when Hakimi appeared in shooting position inside the box but couldn’t squeeze his effort between three posts.

But it was Slavia Lukáš Masopust who could open the score on the other side. After Stanciu’s fantastic pass he could go alone between two centre-backs on Bürki but Borussia goalkeeper managed to block his low shot. Just 4 minutes later Stanciu fired from free kick and Bürki managed to punch his clever effort away.

Borussia thus broke the deadlock on 35th minute. Achraf Hakimi took the ball in quick counter-attack, got from right wing into the centre, went past Kolář and fired the ball under the crossbar. 0-1.

Just 4 minutes later the same player could double Borussia lead but Coufal together woth goalkeeper Kolář managed to stop him this time.

On 42nd minute Slavia were close to equalizer after a signal from set piece. From Ševčík through Masopust and Stanciu the ball got to Coufal on the right wing, his cross was deflected to Kúdela who had enough space inside the box, but his shot was blocked by one of the defenders.

Two minutes into the second half Ondřej Kolář proved his class again when he managed to block Sancho’s shot after a counter-attack, but generally in the second half Slavia were better team and did not allow Dortmund any bigger chances.

On the other side Stanislav Tecl went alone on BVB goal on 52nd minute after Ševčík’s pass but fired just centimetres wide next to the right post. After 67 minutes Ševčík got into a great position himself but fired just into the gloves of Roman Bürki.

Slavia pressure slowly faded away and one minute before the full time Dortmund managed to add second of the night. After another quick attack Hakimi fired the ball through Kolář from the left side of the box. 0-2.

Slavia thus lost their first game of 2019/20 season, 0-2 to Borussia Dortmund, and remains with 1 point in the table of Group F. Next game will be played on 23 October in Prague against Barcelona.
